A new luxury brand on the block is making Contemporaine du Temps (MCT). Luxury brands seem to jump with regularity nowadays, and it ’s important to note the unique elements of each. MCT was founded by Denis Giguet, a French engineer who has worked with greats such as watch Rolex and Harry Winston (in particular). MCT debuts with his first shows, the sequence in a limited edition of 99 pieces. You can watch the interview with him in the video below.

Like many luxury watch new avant-garde, sequential attemps to take off next to the present time display an original way. As a theme which is similar to Urwerk observed, the sequence shows the four opening windows with triangular tiles rotate (you can call them prism trained ), thus providing a total of 12 displays. All times are displayed digitally on the windows opening, while minutes are shown in a retrograde fashion on a disc that shifts to include a posting of an hour. In addition to the sequence similarity that must Urwerk observes, it is easy to see the Harry Winston Opus scratch the influence, which seems reasonable given that Giguet has made this division at Harry Winston. The video below shows the watch in action, it is actually quite impressive.

MCT is off to a nice start, and certainly his place. It is expected future watches already offering increased complications, a perpetual calendar if, and perhaps a chronograph. I can la ‘t wait to see how these watches are. Mr. Giguet is well spoken in English, and I am happy to read his thoughts by the subtitles as spoken in his native tongue. This way I can decipher the passion it takes to manufacture watch. He created an impressive new take on the case watch cushion, and a well implemented in the sequence.
