Watches Solaris to Ikepod: New direction for Marc Newson
Ikepod designer Marc Newson is ’s weird but cool brand watch. From its beginning, most of his watches have shared the same light bulb round and had the model name Hemipode. Watches are very fresh and very difficult to come close with extremely limited distribution (only two authorized dealers in the USA). Despite their rarity, the watches Ikepod always intrigued me and watched as they enjoyed more than the appeal of investment products. Moreover, their sound is modern and minimalist, are still very functional, with some models offering highly complex devices.
Well, Marc has taken a completely new direction with new lines of Solaris watch. Not only is the shape of the box instead of shows, but the overall theme of the show is completely different. Rather than a futuristic look mild, watches Solaris are retro chic. The case itself looks like a device dreamed up in 1950 the age ‘pre-space s and 60s, but with lines of strippers. Perhaps what Art Deco may have changed if the industrial design took a different path in the middle of the 20th century.
The case is at right angles rounded and tight simple. The dial is round, unpretentious and rebar markers and hour hands applied with clarity primitive. The crown is placed over the case (as opposed to later), and is flattened. Still, it is probably easy to use once removed. It could not be comfortable for the manual winding, but the watches have quartz movements (put the ‘gasping t), so no problem with the coil. Two rivets on the case remove any notion of the boredom of the design suggest a sense of mechanical device to inspect the base. The line shows Solaris is available in several different materials of yellow or white 18k, like ceramic white and black.
You put ‘t see the mesh or woven metal bracelets a lot, but you’re here. Bracelets metal mesh were common on dive watches, and I’m happy they make a return. It is difficult to do and hard to take care of, but with non-tarnish metal today, the latter of these two concerns could be questionable. The choice of the most interesting design is probably the bracelet attaches to the front of the watch on one end, and behind the clock on another. I ‘d have to see it applied to my wrist more to comment on its effectiveness. You can tell from the picture gallery below that there are few well-chosen options of color. I think I like the two-tone black and white the best, or perhaps included all the back model shown above. Prices are quite steep given the movement between 6700 and 24,000 euros each.
